Longhouse
The first longhouse of the year is next Tuesday September 8th in the . There will be a brief Incoming Chief's meeting at 7:30 followed by the regular longhouse at 8:00pm.
As in the beginning of every year there are a lot of items to go over so set the date and time aside to attend. Each tribe should be represented so contact your chief and ensure someone will be in attendance.

Registration
With the beginning of a new IP/IG year, all members new and returning must register with the program as soon as possible. Having accurate membership numbers allows us to estimate the number of people who may participate in nation events, and plan so no one is left out.
For example, we need to reserve spots now for a museum sleepover that isn't scheduled until 2011!  so please contact your tribal Chief, and confirm your participation.
Registration forms are available on the Nation website and attached here.  Please turn in your registration with payment to your chief or drop off at Y front desk  and be sure the "Hold Harmless Agreement" (located at bottom of registration form) is signed.

Our new year brings renewed emphasis on recruiting new members into the program. To this end we have scheduled two recruitment days.
 September 11th and 18th from 8:45 a.m. to 11:45am.
In addition we will be participating in the
YMCA Community Cookout on Saturday Sept 25th, also  from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A big presence from our program can mean successful recruiting. If your tribe is in need of members, please plan on attending and explaining our program to cookout guests. Having your princess or brave with you adds interest. Please wear your vest

The Council of the 4 Winds is our annual induction ceremony for boys and girls into our program. It will be held at Lake Ellyn on September 26th starting at 7 p.m. It is a family event and we encourage new and existing members and their families to join in welcoming our new guides and princesses. As the drums beat and the fire roars we await the Chiefs arrival across the waters and call the Four Winds to this induction ceremony.  Each Child receives their first award, the Bear Claw Necklace and affirm their allegiance to their tribe.

A Christmas Carol

Interest in attending a matinee performance of A Christmas Carol at the Drury Lane Theater has been brought up. Traditionally, this is a family event.
The performance will be on a Saturday in late November or early December at 1:00p.m. The cost is $10 per ticket, and $12.00 if we decide to include a patch
We would like to guage general interest in this event and an estimated number of participants so that we may work with the Drury Lane to secure enough tickets.
Please ask within your tribe and bring a rough number to the longhouse.

Next Longhouse
Tuesday October 5th 8PM. at the YMCA

Due at the longhouse
  • Sign-up and Payment for Princess Fall Campout
  • Guides Harvest Moon Hayride sign-up and payment
Please go to the event list on the Federation web page and review the events for this upcoming year. We still need tribes to sign up to coordinate events. Most important, we need a guide tribe to coordinate the Christmas Party. Please look over the events and decide which event your tribe could comfortably manage. We want to get all of the events assigned by the longhouse. Having this done will provide plenty of time for your tribe to get all of the necessary questions answered and any assistance you need.
